Goodman branded air conditioning and heat pump

The Amana, Daikin, and Goodman branded air conditioning and heat pump packaged units are being recalled due to a safety hazard. The serial plate on these units may display inaccurate electrical ratings, potentially resulting in incorrect wiring being used during installation. This incorrect wiring poses a fire hazard to consumers. To address this issue a repair service is in place.

The recall was announced on June 13, 2024, and it affects approximately 12,100 units.

Owners of these units are advised to contact the manufacturer promptly to schedule the necessary repair to ensure the safe operation of their air conditioning and heat pump systems.

This recall involves packaged air conditioners and heat pumps under the Amana, Daikin, and Goodman brands. The units being recalled are either gray or green in color and can be identified by their model numbers, which are located on the outside panel of the unit on the electrical connection side. Consumers are advised not to attempt to open the outside electrical panel of the affected air conditioning and heat pump units and should contact Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing L.P. (DCT) immediately for a free repair and inspection. DCT is reaching out to all known purchasers directly to address the issue.

Fortunately, there have been no reported incidents or injuries related to this recall.

The products were sold at various heating and cooling equipment independent dealers across the United States between January 2024 and March 2024, with prices ranging from $4,500 to $7,500. The manufacturer, Daikin Comfort Technologies Manufacturing L.P. (formerly known as Goodman Manufacturing Company L.P.), is based in Houston, Texas, and the affected units were made in the United States.
