The recall is being conducted because of instances where jars of the sauce have exhibited swelling, leaking, or bursting. This issue may indicate that the product was not processed correctly, increasing the risk of spoilage organisms or pathogens being present.

The affected product, which comes in a 16-ounce glass jar, was distributed to retailers in New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts between May and June of 2024. Consumers can identify the recalled sauce by checking for lot number 1042426 and UPC number 683720301567 printed on the packaging. The UPC can be located above the barcode, while the lot number is typically found on the side of the jar.

As of now, there have been no reports of illnesses or negative effects resulting from the consumption of this product. However, as a precautionary measure, consumers are advised not to use the Hudson Harvest Tomato Basil Sauce, even if it appears to be unaffected.
