Excalibur Crossbow C2 Crank with cocking hooks
The C2 Crank Cocking Aid for Crossbows is being recalled due to a hazard where the cocking hooks of the C2 Crank can break while in use. This breakage can result in plastic hook projectiles being propelled, posing a risk of impact injuries and lacerations to both the user and individuals nearby.
The recall was issued on April 04, 2024, and approximately 15,000 units in the United States are affected. Furthermore, an additional 3,920 units were sold in Canada, bringing the total number of affected products to about 18,920 between the two countries. The recommended remedy for this safety concern is to replace the C2 Crank Cocking Aid with a safer alternative.
The recall involves the Excalibur Crossbow’s C2 Crank, which is a cocking aid designed for crossbows. The C2 Crank features two plastic cocking hooks that are attached to the string of the device. It was sold in a black color, with the "Excalibur Crossbow" logo displayed on the front of the unit. The packaging of the C2 Crank includes the part number 2199 and the UPC number 626192021991 for identification.
Consumers are advised to discontinue the use of the recalled C2 Crank immediately. They should contact Excalibur Crossbow to receive guidance on obtaining a free replacement rope and hooks.
Excalibur has received 538 reports of incidents involving the C2 Crank cocking aid hooks breaking while in use. This malfunction has led to plastic projectiles being released and striking consumers. One reported injury involved a consumer sustaining a permanent eye injury due to this issue.
The C2 Crank was available for purchase at various retailers, including Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, and online platforms such as excaliburcrossbow.com, ebay.com, and amazon.com. It was sold between January 2008 and December 2021, at an average price of around $190.
The manufacturer of the C2 Crank is Excalibur Crossbow US LLC, based in Canada. The product was manufactured in Canada. The recall identification number assigned to this specific recall is 24-180.
